Who attends
MEDICA is a sourcing show above all else. Distributors and importers come to find products for their territories, hospital and group purchasing buyers come for equipment, and a large contingent of manufacturers walks the floor looking for components, which is what COMPAMED next door exists to serve. Attendance is strongly international, with substantial delegations from Asia, the Gulf and Latin America, so a given stand may hold conversations in six languages in a day. The distributor conversation in particular tends to be long, exploratory and territory-specific, and almost impossible to reconstruct from a card alone.

Working the floor
- The Düsseldorf fairgrounds are large and MEDICA occupies much of them. Visitors arrive with a hall plan and a tight schedule, so conversations are purposeful but short.
